A walk on the Wild Pacific Trail is a must on your visit to Ucluelet. Ucluelet's gem and The New York Times "Top 33 things To Do", it is a beautifully designed wide gravel trail that can accommodate double strollers and has numerous benches along the way to stop and take in the beauty. It has many access points, allowing one to walk the entire trail or a short jaunt to catch a spectacular sunset. Even a person with limited mobility can enjoy parts. Whale watching is a reason in itself of why people make the trek down the windy road to the edge of the world. Most outfits guarantee sightings and with the abundance of wildlife and the beauty of the Broken Island Group, Barkley Sound and Clayoquot Sound, it truly will leave you in awe. Subtidal Adventures has been in business for over 34 years in Ucluelet, so they must know where the whales are!

And of course the reason most people even know about the wild west side of the Vancouver Island is the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve of Canada. and the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, This houses miles of sandy beaches, like Long Beach and Wikinninish Beach which are both famous for surfing.
Speaking of Surfing, there are two places to get lessons and rent all the gear in Ucluelet, and at least four places in Tofino. Relic Surf has locals who can help you out, as well as Surf Sister.
If experiencing the true force of the ocean inside the wave isn't your idea of fun, Ocean Kayaking is another way to get on the water and explore the numerous bays, islands and inlets in the area. Majestic Ocean Kayaking is located in Ucluelet and has lessons, day trips and overnight excursions.
Then there is deep sea fishing, and if you like a challenge register for the Salmon Ladder Derby. There are many charters to take you out, including Roanne Sea Adventures which is just two doors down from our suite or Pacific King also just down the road.
If there is something specific you need, you may want to pick it up across island before driving over, but otherwise you really can get everything you need here. We have a Co-Op Grocery store, two pharmacies, a CIBC and a Credit Union, BC Liquor Store and a Cold Beer and Wine, many great restaurants and even a few fantastic clothing stores. Not to mention gift shops, galleries, and cafes. Remember this is Island time so shop hours are limited.
